Fung Ming Sum

Starting from 2017 to 2020, after experiencing a breakup, I re-learned how to get to know other people and recorded some ambiguous relationships which were either still ongoing or had already ended, through paintings, writings, and found objects.

Each work tells a fragmented story, echoing the fragmented impressions left in my mind - it could be a portrait, a sentence, a plant, a waterfall, a brick, etc.  There was no clear state, nor a clear answer.  The more I wanted to understand and confirm the relationships, the more I could not handle and define them.

Although sometimes I thought that these ambiguous situations are caused by me, felt guilty and blamed myself, I believe these were all my precious experiences.
